Promoting Justice, Peace and Accountability
TAJPI is committed to enforcing good governance and promoting justice and peace at all levels by addressing key issues that hinder development. These include ineffective community participation in decision-making processes due to the limited capacity of organizations representing poor and marginalized groups. This has led to the denial of their rights and a low level of transparency and accountability among both government and non-state actors.
As part of this initiative, research was conducted on the effectiveness of local government reforms in Tanzania. The findings indicate that local government authorities are not consistently responding to people's needs in a timely manner, or in some cases, at all. Additionally, the study revealed that some government officials lack the necessary competencies to deliver services effectively. Furthermore, concerns were raised regarding the public's ability and willingness to hold the government accountable.
